If only Muslims knew more about this hadith and pay more attention to it, the world would be a better place to live in. This is because normally people would place so much emphasis on the former, charity, fasting and prayer, but they often neglect the necessity to treat each other well, keep the peace, and settle disputes.
Disagreements and disunity are the tools of Satan that distract us from the ultimate goal of pleasing our Creator by feeding our egos.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Do you want me to tell you of what is better than the rank of fasting, prayer and charity?” The Companions said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said, “Making peace between people among whom there is discord, for the evil of discord is the shaver.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 4919, Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2509)
Abu al-Darda reported the Prophet (pbuh) saying: "Shall I not inform you of something more excellent in degree than fasting, prayer, and sadaqah?" The people replied: "Yes, Prophet of Allah!" He said: "It is Islah -- putting things right between people." (Sunan Abu Dawud; vol. 3, #4901)
Dari Abu Darda r.a meriwayatkan bahawa baginda Rasulullah SAW bersabda: "Mahukah daku khabarkan kepadamu sesuatu yang lebih baik daripada puasa, sembahyang dan sedekah?"
Para sahabat r.hum berkata: Ya Rasulullah! Baginda Rasulullah SAW bersabda: "Bersatu (hati) adalah lebih baik kerana perselisihan dan perbalahan akan menghapuskan agama." (HR Tirmizi dan Dawud)
