Islam 101 for Dummies

No matter what race you are, no matter how big the word 'Islam' or 'Muslim' is written on your IC, no matter what dress you wear, no matter what beard you have and no matter what word you say with your mouth...

You cannot become a Muslim if you do not surrender and submits to the 'Will of God'...and no one, i repeat 'No One'...can be born into Islam or as a Muslim, not even the children of the Prophets...

The root word of Islam is “salam” — meaning “peace” — with the root consonants of s, l, and m (sin, lam, mim). The addition of the i changes the noun into a verb. The prefix 'mu' means, essentially, “one who has,” so a muslim — noting the same consonant base — becomes “one who has surrendered.”

The 'surrender' or 'submission', in the context of this word, implies to the surrendering to 'God’s Will and Order'. And only by submitting to the Will of God...true 'Peace' could be achieved, here and the hereafter...

“Allah” is the same word the 'Arabic speaking Christians' (Coptic Christians) use to speak and refer to God before the arrival of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

From a Muslim point of view, the God of Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all the same figure, just as the Christians like to believe their God is the same God of Judaism. It’s not as if “Allah” is some other, competing divinity.

Technically, Arabic has no capital letters, so the word is 'Allah' (meaning The God). Second 'Al' is a prefix definite article meaning “the.” The root word 'Lah' just means “God.” Thus, Al-lah translates simply to 'The God'.

Wallahu'alam
