What would happen if Muslim forgo the duty of Dakwah?

To make it short and simple, just ask yourself what would happen if there is no Islam in this world. Or what would happen if Rasulullah SAW did not preached Islam to the world.

Yes, you've guessed it right. We would not be a Muslim today. We would still be living in the jahilia era where burying daughters and having slaves was a norm. Worst of all, we would be praying to the volcanoes, rivers, sun or moon and whatnot thinking it's a god.

Actually, this scenario is not that far away if the Muslim of today forgo the duty of promoting and propagating Islamic teaching (islah & dakwah) to the muslim, as well as the non-muslim.

This is because human hearts are prone to delusional indulgence (hawa nafsu). Without the true wisdom of Islamic values, one wouldn't know what is right and what is wrong, thus not knowing which is righteous and which is evil.

Most of the younger muslim of today had lost its Islamic way of life to the ever glittering materialistic world. Human would betray their own kind just to satisfy their greed. A 14 years old teenage girl would lie to her parents saying that she was kidnapped, just to be with her boyfriend.

Teenage kids would resort in robbery and snatching just to have enough cash to buy a branded handphone. Unmarried teenage couples would shamelessly abort their unwanted babies by discharging it to the public toilets.

This is the result of the Muslim of today and yesterday for not doing what Allah SWT had ordered us to do. If we are not spreading the true message of Islam to a community, the community would return to jahilia.

So you see, human finds themselves standing before two ways in every period or age. These two ways are:

1) The way of guidance and belief.

2) The way of ignorance and misguidance.

If the way of ignorance and misguidance flourished in a community like what we are facing in Malaysia today, chances of our offspring becoming a fasiqun, kafirrun or even murtad is indeed very high due to the ever alluring glittering delusional duniawi.

To give human a clear idea of the aims and purposes which Islam strives to achieve, the Qur'an tells them about these aims and purposes:

"And thus did We reveal to you an inspired Book by Our command. You knew not what the Book was, nor (what) Faith (was), but We made it a light, guiding thereby whom We please of Our servants…" (QS 42:52)

"...and We have revealed the Book to you explaining all things, and guidance and mercy and good news for those who submit (themselves to Allah)." (QS 16:89)

Therefore, if you do not do 'dakwah' today, the chances are you (or your offspring) will be 'dakyah' tomorrow...

Wallahu'alam
