Can Atheists Go To Heaven In Islam?

Can Atheists Go To Heaven In Islam?
by Sheikh Hasan bin Farhan Al-Maliki

"Allah does not charge a soul except within its capacity.(QS 2:286)

"So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth. (Adhere to) the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created all people. No change should there be in the creation of Allah . That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know."(QS 30:30)

According to Sheikh Hasan bin Farhan Al-Maliki, referring to these 2 verses from the Quran, how do you expect an atheist that was not expose to the true teachings of Islam but only seen nothing but evils, wars, bombing, disputes would be punishable by Allah SWT? How do you expect someone in this condition to embrace Islam?

According to the Sheikh, people in such circumstances would be judged by Allah SWT by their universal values such as injustice, dishonest etc. Their good deeds do not go unrewarded. This is because Allah SWT is Lord of all mankind and not just the Lord of Muslim. And the Quran is for all mankind. There is universality in Islam and the Quran, it emphasizes the phrases, "the Prophet is Mercy to all mankind"(QS 21:107) and "Allah is Lord of all mankind" (QS 1:2, 2:21, 4:1, 4:132, 35:3, 42:23, 49:13 etc).

(Allah: The word Allah is the proper name in Arabic for The One and Only God, The Creator and Sustainer of the universe. It is used by the Arab Christians and Jews for the God (Eloh-im in Hebrew; 'Allaha' in Aramaic, the mother tongue of Jesus). The word Allah does not have a plural or gender. Allah does not have any associate or partner, and He does not beget nor was He begotten.)
Islam was hijacked by the politicians such as the Umayyad dynasty and others due to the discrimination and ignorance of the authorities and their jurist. They made it so that Islam, Allah, the Prophet and the Quran belongs to them(the Arabs) when it is suppose to be mercy to all.

Thereupon, there are different kind of atheist, the kind that is arrogant, doesn't do research and a denier who reviles religions and the serious researcher who died before finding the answers and never hurt anyone. Aren't they different? (Allah is the all seer of his servants - QS 40:44 and because Allah does not charge a soul except within its capacity - QS 2:286)

The host of the show asked: "How about QS 3:85, where Allah says "Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted by Him", and QS 4:48, Allah does not forgive ascribing partners of worshiping unto Him"?

Sheikh Hasan bin Farhan answered: That is IF we know what kufur truly means. One who knew but denied the truth is kafir. Now, the people of Japan, America and Europe, i do not call them kafir but people(an nas). Because the kafir must first know the truth, not be ignorant of it, then denies or covers it up.

(Please note the word 'ascribing', it did not say the noun polytheist(musyrikun). It is the amount of syirik or polytheism that Allah does not forgive)

There are 2 meanings of kufur in the Quran. Either denial or covering up and shunning signs of Allah. But the ignorant is not kafir but one of the people(an nas) and is under Allah's Will(fatrah). I think that 'perhaps' that there are more people in heaven from other nations than from the Muslims (the Sheikh said 'perhaps', it's a possibility). Because i find the goals(maqasid) of the Quran, and what are they(muslim)...they don't know.

Allah said in QS 51:56: "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." But the next question comes up, "Why do we worship Allah"? You won't find any muslim who can answer that question but it is in the Quran. Verse QS 2:21 says, "O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you,(why?) that you may become righteous."

Righteousness is refraining from inflicting harm and aggression, according to the Quran and the the common definition of having a protection between Allah and His servant. Verse QS 5:2 says: "Cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression."(also see QS 2:177, 3:92, 3:134, 60:8 etc)

What is polytheism(musyrikun)? You'll find that we might be more polytheistic that they(non muslim) are. Polytheism is not only about worshiping idols but also ascribing partners unto Allah such as rabbis, priest, master and dignitaries. QS 33:67 says: "And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the right way." Polytheism is a big issue, do not think it is so simple(not only limited by worshiping idols).

As for the goals(maqasid), yes there is the goals of worship but above it is the goals of righteousness, which is refraining from aggression. Therefore, prayers(solat) keeps one away from immorality and wrongdoing."(QS 29:45 -"..prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater").

Is there any other goals after righteousness? Yes, Allah mentioned gratitude(be pious, righteous) to Allah that you might be thankful(QS 14:7, 39:66). The Quran did not say be thankful that you may be righteous or be righteous that you may worship , but the opposite. The Quran is a rigorous(extremely thorough and careful) system. This is the Quranic culture and its goals. The entire goal of worship is righteousness in the Quran.

What is Islam in the Quran? According to the Quran, Islam is made up of 3 stages. Dedication to the truth, as they may believe it or renounce it, you can know it by the opposites. The second stage is submitting to the truth. The third stage is the good deeds that reflect from the submission.

If you examine this kind of Islam(submission), do you find it in other nations or in us(muslim) only? Honest dedication to information, submitting to true information, and the good deeds that stem from it. This is the Quranic meaning of Islam.
